Top 10 Manufacturing Analytics Partners in the Carolinas (2026)

By Nichole McKinneyUpdated November 13, 202635-minute read10 firms compared

The Carolinas make things: automotive and aerospace in the Greenville-Spartanburg Upstate, furniture and fiber optics in Hickory, textiles and specialty chemicals across the Triad, pharmaceuticals and boats in Eastern NC, and the industrial headquarters and distributors clustered around Charlotte. Every one of those plants runs an ERP, most run an MES or a quality system, and almost none of them can see production, quality and margin on one screen. Here are the ten manufacturing analytics partners in the Carolinas we would shortlist in 2026 — and why Power BI Consulting Services (BICS), a Charlotte-area Microsoft Partner, sits at the top.

NM
Nichole McKinney — Founder & CEO, Power BI Consulting Services (BICS)
Nichole McKinney founded BI Consulting Services in 2018 and has led Power BI, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric and Azure analytics engagements for organizations including Mars Wrigley, Sodexo, Sandvik, Pernod Ricard and NC State University. She is Upwork Expert-Vetted and Top Rated Plus, teaches the Microsoft data stack to a 100K+ subscriber YouTube audience, and was named a 2026 Charlotte Business Journal Women in Business and 40 Under 40 honoree.

Quick answer

  • Power BI Consulting Services (BICS) is our #1 manufacturing analytics partner in the Carolinas for 2026: a Charlotte-area Microsoft Partner that builds production, quality and OEE dashboards from MES and ERP data — for example a PostgreSQL MES feeding Power BI through Microsoft Fabric — plus Dynamics 365 reporting, Power Apps for shop-floor workflows and private, on-premises AI, with published pricing and fixed-scope Jump Starts.
  • The strongest alternatives are Carolinas Microsoft Dynamics and software partners: InterDyn Artis in Charlotte (Dynamics ERP plus Power BI), Kopis in Greenville, SC (custom Azure software for manufacturers such as BMW and Metromont) and Sunrise Technologies in Winston-Salem (a large global Dynamics 365 partner). Enstrapp in Greer covers SAP, IoT and digital twins; Revology Analytics in Davidson covers pricing and margin analytics.
  • Most manufacturing analytics projects succeed or fail on three things: getting clean data out of the MES, ERP and quality systems; modeling it so OEE, scrap, yield and cost-per-unit reconcile with finance; and building dashboards that a plant manager reads at the 7 a.m. production meeting. Weight those heavily when you evaluate any partner.
  • Expect a well-run pilot — one plant, one MES or ERP source, one OEE and quality dashboard — to reach a governed, production Power BI workspace in roughly 4–8 weeks; anything promising a plant-wide data platform in two weeks is skipping the data-quality work, and anything quoting six months for a first dashboard is over-scoping.

Ask a plant manager in Spartanburg, Hickory or Greenville, NC what last week's OEE was and you will usually get one of three answers: a number from a whiteboard, a number from a spreadsheet that took a supervisor two hours to build, or a number from the MES that finance does not believe because it does not reconcile with the ERP. The manufacturing analytics partners in the Carolinas worth hiring are the ones who can close that gap — pull production counts, downtime reasons, scrap and quality holds out of the MES, join them to standard costs, orders and inventory in the ERP, and present the result in a Power BI dashboard that the morning production meeting, the quality manager and the CFO all trust.

We built this ranking for plant managers, operations VPs, controllers and IT directors at manufacturers across North and South Carolina — typically $10M to $1B in revenue, one to a dozen plants — who are evaluating a manufacturing analytics consultant in North Carolina or South Carolina and want a local, defensible shortlist. Every firm below is headquartered in the Carolinas and has either a stated manufacturing focus, named manufacturing clients, or a data, ERP or CRM practice that manufacturers in the region actually use. We excluded the global systems integrators and the national firms that appear in the Charlotte and Raleigh analytics directories without a Carolinas headquarters.

We also weighted the list toward the Microsoft stack, because that is what most Carolinas manufacturers run. Power BI is the reporting standard on the plant floor and in the front office; Dynamics 365 Business Central and Finance & Supply Chain are replacing aging ERPs across the Upstate and the Triad; Microsoft Fabric is where MES, ERP, quality and IoT data are landing; Power Apps is how supervisors are replacing paper travelers and clipboard inspections; and private, on-premises AI is how manufacturers with IP and customer-confidentiality constraints are putting large language models to work on maintenance logs and quality records. The best Power BI partner for manufacturing in the Carolinas in 2026 is fluent in all of that.

Three forces make 2026 the year most Carolinas manufacturers commit to a real analytics platform instead of another spreadsheet. First, the ERP wave. Plants across the Upstate, the Triad and Charlotte are moving from legacy systems to Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance & Supply Chain, SAP S/4HANA, Epicor or NetSuite, and every migration exposes the same problem: the new ERP's built-in reports do not include the MES data, and the MES's reports do not include cost. A partner who can model both together — production counts and downtime from the MES, standard cost, orders and inventory from the ERP — turns the migration into the moment the plant finally gets one version of the truth.

Second, Microsoft Fabric changed the economics of plant data. Landing a PostgreSQL or SQL Server MES database, an ERP and a quality system into OneLake, building bronze, silver and gold Delta tables, and reading them from Power BI through Direct Lake means shift-level production data can be on a dashboard the same morning without a 6 a.m. import refresh that fails when the line runs late. Fabric Real-Time Intelligence adds Eventstreams and KQL databases for PLC and IoT signals. For a mid-market manufacturer, an F16 or F32 capacity now does what a six-figure data warehouse project did five years ago.

Third, AI has arrived on the shop floor with a confidentiality problem. Manufacturers want language models to summarize maintenance logs, draft corrective-action reports and answer "why did line 3 scrap 4% last week" — but many cannot send customer drawings, process parameters or defense-related data to a public cloud AI. Private, on-premises AI servers and Copilot Studio agents grounded in the manufacturer's own Fabric data solve that. Very few manufacturing analytics consultants in the Carolinas build both the data platform and the private AI layer; BICS does.

How we ranked these firms

We scored every firm on five weighted criteria using its published services and case studies, Clutch-verified profiles and self-reported industry mix, Microsoft, SAP and HubSpot partner designations, named manufacturing clients, pricing transparency, and our own experience competing against and collaborating with these teams across the Carolinas. Scores are 1–10 per criterion. The weights reflect what actually predicts a successful manufacturing analytics implementation: the ability to get clean data out of MES, ERP and quality systems; Power BI modeling and dashboard design the plant will use; breadth across the Microsoft platform manufacturers are standardizing on; a delivery model you can budget for; and a genuine fit with Carolinas manufacturers.

How the ranking is weighted. Each firm is scored 1–10 per criterion; the weighted total drives the order below.
  • MES & ERP data integration (30%) — Demonstrated ability to extract, model and reconcile production, downtime, quality and cost data from MES databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server), ERPs (Dynamics 365, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite), quality systems and PLC/IoT sources.
  • Power BI & dashboard design (25%) — Star-schema modeling, DAX for OEE, yield, scrap and cost-per-unit, row-level security by plant and line, and dashboards designed for the production meeting, the quality manager and the CFO.
  • Microsoft platform breadth (15%) — Depth across Microsoft Fabric, Dynamics 365, Power Apps and Power Automate, Azure data services, Copilot Studio and private AI — so shop-floor workflows, reporting and AI share one estate.
  • Delivery speed & pricing transparency (15%) — Fixed-scope offerings (Jump Starts, pilots), published or clearly packaged pricing, time-to-first-dashboard, and whether the firm leaves a maintainable estate behind.
  • Carolinas manufacturing fit (15%) — Carolinas headquarters, named manufacturing clients or disclosed manufacturing share, and an engagement model sized for mid-market plants rather than global enterprise programs.

Best for: Carolinas manufacturers that want production, quality and OEE dashboards built from MES and ERP data on Power BI and Fabric, plus Power Apps shop-floor workflows and private AI, with fixed-scope pricing and senior hands on the keyboard  ·  Weighted score: 9.6/10

Power BI Consulting Services — BI Consulting Services, LLC, or BICS — is a Microsoft Partner and MBE-certified analytics consultancy founded in 2018 by Nichole McKinney and headquartered in Mooresville, in the Charlotte metro, serving clients across the Carolinas and nationwide. The firm built its reputation on enterprise Power BI for organizations such as Sandvik, Mars Wrigley, Beiersdorf, Pernod Ricard, Sodexo, Kennedy Wilson and NC State University, and on the Power Platform and Azure work that surrounds it: a mobile quote-to-order app for a building-supply distributor, workflow modernization with exception handling and dead-letter logging for a contractor, and enterprise operations automation for a property manager. For a Carolinas manufacturer, that combination — deep Power BI, real data engineering, and apps and automation on the same Microsoft estate — is exactly the profile a plant needs.

BICS's manufacturing analytics work starts on the shop floor. A typical engagement lands the MES database — often PostgreSQL or SQL Server — alongside the ERP (Dynamics 365 Business Central or Finance & Supply Chain, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite) and the quality system into a Microsoft Fabric lakehouse using Fabric Data Factory and notebooks, builds bronze, silver and gold Delta tables that reconcile production counts, downtime reasons, scrap and holds with standard cost and orders, and models the result as a Direct Lake star schema. The Power BI layer is designed backward from the meetings that use it: an OEE and downtime dashboard for the 7 a.m. production huddle, a quality dashboard with Pareto and SPC views for the quality manager, and a cost-per-unit and margin view for the controller — with row-level security by plant, line and shift so a supervisor in Hickory sees Hickory and the VP of operations in Charlotte sees everything.

Where BICS separates from the Dynamics resellers and software shops on this list is breadth and transparency. It builds Power Apps for shop-floor workflows — digital travelers, first-article and in-process inspections, downtime logging, maintenance requests — that write straight into the same data model, so the dashboard and the app are one system rather than two. It deploys Copilot Studio agents and private, on-premises AI servers for manufacturers that cannot send drawings, process parameters or customer data to a public cloud. And it publishes its costs, offers a two-week Power BI Jump Start and fixed-scope Fabric pilots, and extends a 10% discount to nonprofits, government agencies and minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses. On Upwork, BICS holds Expert-Vetted and Top Rated Plus status with a 100% Job Success Score across more than $1.7M in delivered work, and its founder's YouTube channel teaches the Microsoft data stack to more than 100,000 subscribers — so a plant's own analysts inherit documentation and training, not a black box.

"A plant does not need another report. It needs OEE, scrap and cost-per-unit that reconcile, on one screen, before the 7 a.m. production meeting. We land the MES and the ERP in Fabric, model them so finance and operations agree, and hand the plant a dashboard and an app it can run itself." — Nichole McKinney, Founder, BICS

Sample engagement: a PostgreSQL MES, a Dynamics 365 ERP and an OEE number nobody believed

A representative BICS manufacturing engagement starts with a two-plant components manufacturer — one plant in the Hickory area, one in the Upstate — running a PostgreSQL-backed MES on the floor and Dynamics 365 Business Central in the office. Supervisors report OEE from the MES, the controller reports cost-per-unit from the ERP, and the numbers never agree because production counts, scrap and downtime reasons are keyed differently in each system. The weekly ops review spends its first twenty minutes arguing about which number is right.

In the first two weeks BICS sizes a Fabric capacity, mirrors the PostgreSQL MES and Business Central into a bronze lakehouse with Fabric Data Factory, and builds silver tables that standardize part numbers, work centers and downtime codes across both plants. Weeks three and four add gold tables and a Direct Lake star schema with conformed dimensions for plant, line, shift, part and reason code, plus DAX measures for availability, performance, quality, OEE, scrap rate and cost-per-unit that reconcile to the ERP's period close. By week six the production huddle runs on a Power BI dashboard with row-level security by plant, the quality manager has a Pareto and SPC view, the controller has a margin-by-part view, and a Power App has replaced the paper downtime log so reason codes are clean at the source. A Copilot Studio agent grounded in the same model answers "why was line 3 down on Tuesday" in plain language.

  • Deliverables: architecture diagram, lakehouse and pipeline code in Git, Direct Lake semantic model with documented measures, three certified dashboards (production, quality, cost), downtime-logging Power App, Copilot Studio agent, capacity monitoring, runbook and recorded training.
  • Handover: your supervisors log downtime in the app, your analyst can add a report, your IT team can add a plant. No black box.

The BICS delivery sequence for a Carolinas plant — most pilots reach a governed, production Power BI workspace in 4–8 weeks.

Strengths

  • Production, quality and OEE dashboards modeled from MES and ERP data — PostgreSQL or SQL Server MES to Power BI through a Fabric lakehouse, reconciled with standard cost and orders.
  • Power BI and DAX depth most ERP partners lack: star schemas, calculation groups, RLS by plant and line, and dashboards designed for the production meeting, the quality manager and the CFO.
  • Power Apps and Power Automate for shop-floor workflows — digital travelers, inspections, downtime logging, maintenance requests — built on the same data model as the reporting.
  • Dynamics 365 reporting, Azure data engineering (Synapse, Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Functions) and custom application development under one roof.
  • Copilot Studio agents and private, on-premises AI servers for manufacturers with IP, ITAR or customer-confidentiality constraints.
  • Published pricing, two-week Jump Starts and fixed-scope pilots; Charlotte-area Microsoft Partner and MBE with Upwork Expert-Vetted and Top Rated Plus status.

Worth knowing: BICS is a boutique senior team, not an ERP reseller. If your primary need is a full Dynamics 365 or SAP implementation with a 40-person bench, pair BICS with one of the ERP partners below; if you need the data platform, the dashboards, the shop-floor apps and the AI layer built and handed over cleanly, this is the firm.

2InterDyn Artis

HQ: Charlotte, NCFounded: 1989Team: 10–49Web: interdynartis.com
Microsoft Dynamics ERP & CRMPower BI data solutionsCustom softwareManaged IT

Best for: Carolinas manufacturers and distributors on Dynamics 365 needing Power BI reporting from their ERP  ·  Weighted score: 7.5/10

InterDyn Artis is a Charlotte Microsoft Dynamics partner founded in 1989 that implements ERP and CRM systems and layers Power BI reporting on top to improve operational efficiency and ROI. Its services span Dynamics implementation, custom development, managed IT and BI consulting for mid-market companies across the Southeast, which makes it one of the longest-tenured Microsoft partners headquartered in the Carolinas.

For a Charlotte, Hickory or Triad manufacturer or distributor that is implementing or already running Dynamics 365, InterDyn Artis is the most natural pairing on this list: the same team that configures the ERP can build the Power BI reporting from it. Its Power BI work is ERP-centric — finance, inventory, sales and purchasing — rather than MES- or shop-floor-centric, so plants that need OEE and quality dashboards from a separate MES should confirm that scope explicitly.

Strengths
  • Microsoft Dynamics partner in Charlotte since 1989
  • ERP, CRM and Power BI reporting from one team
  • Custom development and managed IT for mid-market Southeast companies
Worth knowing

Power BI is one practice among ERP, CRM and managed IT; MES and shop-floor data integration is not a stated specialty, and pricing is quote-based.

3Kopis

HQ: Greenville, SCFounded: 1999Team: 50–249Web: kopisusa.com
Custom software & Azure data platformsMicrosoft Dynamics ERPApplication managementMobile & web apps for industrial operations

Best for: Upstate manufacturers needing custom operational software and data platforms on Microsoft Azure  ·  Weighted score: 7.2/10

Kopis is a Greenville, SC custom software and technology firm founded in 1999 that builds applications to improve decision-making, customer loyalty and competitive differentiation. Its clients include BMW, Proterra and precast concrete manufacturer Metromont, and its technical focus centers on Azure, Microsoft Dynamics ERP and .NET/React development. Mid-market companies make up about 60% of its work.

Sitting in the Greenville-Spartanburg automotive and advanced-manufacturing corridor, Kopis is the strongest choice on this list when the analytics problem is really a software problem — a custom operational application, an Azure data platform under it, and reporting on top. Its engineering bench is larger than most boutiques in the region, and its manufacturing references are genuinely local. Plants whose first need is a Power BI dashboard rather than a custom application should weigh that against a reporting-first partner.

Strengths
  • Named Upstate manufacturing clients including BMW, Proterra and Metromont
  • Azure data platforms and custom .NET/React applications for industrial operations
  • Dynamics ERP practice and application management after go-live
Worth knowing

A software firm first; Power BI and dashboard design are a supporting capability rather than the center of the practice, and pricing is not published.

4Sunrise Technologies

HQ: Winston-Salem, NCFounded: 1994Team: 250–999Web: sunrise.co
Dynamics 365 ERP for manufacturing & distributionBusiness intelligenceAI & CRMSupply chain solutions

Best for: Larger Carolinas manufacturers and consumer-products companies standardizing on Dynamics 365 with integrated BI  ·  Weighted score: 7.2/10

Sunrise Technologies is a Winston-Salem-headquartered global Microsoft Dynamics 365 partner founded in 1994 that delivers ERP, CRM, AI and business intelligence solutions. Manufacturing is about 12% of its client base alongside consumer products, retail and distribution, and its service mix is evenly split across BI, CRM, ERP and IT strategy consulting. With a team of 250 to 999, it is by far the largest firm on this list and the most established Dynamics partner headquartered in the Triad.

We include Sunrise with an honest note: it is well above the boutique size of every other firm here, and its engagement model is built for larger, multi-site Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain programs rather than a single-plant Power BI pilot. For a Triad or Charlotte manufacturer standardizing several plants on Dynamics 365 with integrated supply-chain and BI, it belongs on the shortlist; for a $30M plant that wants an OEE dashboard in six weeks, a boutique will be faster and less expensive.

Strengths
  • Thirty-plus years as a global Dynamics 365 partner headquartered in Winston-Salem
  • ERP, supply chain, CRM, AI and BI delivered together for multi-site programs
  • Deepest Dynamics 365 bench in the Carolinas
Worth knowing

A 250–999 person global firm rather than a boutique; manufacturing is about 12% of its client base, and its minimums and program structure suit enterprise Dynamics rollouts more than a first Power BI dashboard.

5Enstrapp IT Solutions

HQ: Greer, SCFounded: 2010Team: 50–249Web: enstrapp.com
SAP S/4HANA & Oracle ERPIoT & digital twins for facility maintenanceRPA / intelligent automationMaster data managementBI & big data

Best for: Automotive and industrial manufacturers pursuing Industry 4.0 on SAP with IoT and digital twins  ·  Weighted score: 6.6/10

Enstrapp is a Greer, SC enterprise software and digital transformation company founded in 2010, located next to the Upstate's BMW-anchored automotive cluster, with a second office in Bengaluru. It implements SAP and Oracle ERP, builds IoT and digital-twin solutions for facility maintenance, deploys RPA and delivers master data management and BI. Automotive and supply chain and logistics are among its main industry segments.

For a Greenville-Spartanburg automotive supplier running SAP S/4HANA, Enstrapp is the most relevant ERP-and-IoT partner on this list — it can wire sensor data and digital twins into the same program as the ERP. Its BI practice is platform-agnostic rather than Power BI-led, and its offshore delivery component is a consideration for plants with ITAR or customer-confidentiality requirements.

Strengths
  • SAP S/4HANA and Oracle ERP depth in the Upstate automotive cluster
  • IoT, digital twins and RPA for facility maintenance and Industry 4.0
  • Master data management — the unglamorous foundation of plant analytics
Worth knowing

SAP- and Oracle-centric rather than Microsoft-centric; Power BI dashboard design is not a stated specialty, and part of the team is offshore in Bengaluru.

6Revology Analytics

HQ: Davidson, NCFounded: 2022Team: 2–9Web: revologyanalytics.com
Revenue growth analytics for manufacturers & distributorsAI/ML margin & pricing optimizationSales & promotion effectiveness analyticsOutcome-based analytics engagements

Best for: Mid-market manufacturers and distributors wanting pricing and margin analytics with a defined ROI  ·  Weighted score: 6.5/10

Revology Analytics is a Davidson, NC (Charlotte area) revenue growth analytics consultancy founded in 2022 for middle-market enterprises in manufacturing, retail and distribution. It applies AI and machine learning to margin optimization, pricing, sales growth and promotion effectiveness through 60–120 day outcome-based engagements. Its service mix is split between AI development, BI and big-data consulting and business consulting.

Revology is the commercial-analytics complement to the plant-floor partners on this list: where BICS or Kopis build the OEE and quality layer, Revology answers the question of which products, customers and price points actually make money. For a Charlotte-area manufacturer or distributor with a pricing problem, its defined 60–120 day engagements and outcome-based structure are unusually easy to budget.

Strengths
  • Manufacturing, retail and distribution focus with pricing and margin specialty
  • Defined 60–120 day outcome-based engagements
  • AI/ML applied to a commercial problem with a measurable ROI
Worth knowing

A very small team founded in 2022 with a commercial rather than shop-floor focus; MES integration and Power BI platform work are not its center of gravity.

7Waypost Marketing

HQ: Greenville, SCFounded: 2003Team: 10–49Web: waypostmarketing.com
HubSpot inbound marketing for manufacturersCRM consultingB2B content marketingIndustrial web designSEO & PPC

Best for: Manufacturers running HubSpot who need pipeline, CRM and marketing analytics alongside inbound lead generation  ·  Weighted score: 5.5/10

Waypost Marketing is a Greenville, SC Platinum HubSpot Solutions Partner founded in 2003 and focused on B2B digital marketing for manufacturers, industrial companies and professional services firms. Manufacturing represents about 40% of its work; named clients include PPE manufacturer Radians, Leadec Industrial Services and industrial contractor Carolina Painting Company. The agency positions itself on transparency and measurable pipeline results rather than vanity metrics.

Waypost belongs on a manufacturing analytics shortlist for the front half of the business: CRM consulting, HubSpot pipeline design and the marketing-to-quote reporting that most plants lack entirely. It is a marketing agency, not a data-platform firm, so it pairs naturally with a Power BI partner that can join HubSpot pipeline data to ERP orders and margin.

Strengths
  • Platinum HubSpot Solutions Partner with about 40% manufacturing client mix
  • CRM consulting and pipeline reporting for industrial sales cycles
  • Named Upstate industrial clients including Radians and Leadec
Worth knowing

A HubSpot marketing agency rather than an analytics consultancy; no MES, ERP or Power BI practice, so plant-floor and financial reporting need a separate partner.

8Tayloe/Gray

HQ: Wilmington, NCTeam: 11–50Web: tayloegray.com
Web design & custom softwareIndustrial B2B brandingTechnology-led brand programsMarketing & advertising

Best for: Mid-sized industrial manufacturers that need custom web tools, dealer portals and configurators alongside brand  ·  Weighted score: 4.9/10

Tayloe/Gray is a Wilmington, NC agency that pairs brand strategy and design with web and software development for B2B companies. Its client list is weighted toward manufacturers and industrial firms, including Mickey Truck Bodies, Crane Company, Maxpro Window Films, AutoTecknic and McKinley Building Corporation, and it describes itself as brand partners and tech experts that position clients as leaders in their industries.

For Eastern NC and coastal manufacturers, Tayloe/Gray is the relevant partner when the data problem lives on the customer side — a dealer portal, a product configurator, a custom quoting tool — rather than on the plant floor. Those tools generate data that a Power BI partner can then report on; Tayloe/Gray does not position itself as an analytics or ERP integration firm.

Strengths
  • Industrial clients including Mickey Truck Bodies and Crane Company
  • Custom software and web development alongside brand
  • Eastern NC base with a technology-led approach
Worth knowing

A brand-and-software agency, not an analytics consultancy; founding year and manufacturing share are not disclosed, and there is no stated Power BI, ERP or MES practice.

9Boundify

HQ: Greenville, SCFounded: 2011Team: 2–9Web: boundify.io
HubSpot CRM & inboundB2B demand generationPaid mediaSales enablementConversion optimization

Best for: Industrial B2B companies that need HubSpot CRM implementation and demand-generation reporting tied to sales follow-up  ·  Weighted score: 4.5/10

Boundify is a Greenville, SC demand-generation agency and HubSpot Gold Partner founded in 2011 that runs paid media, inbound marketing, CRM implementation and sales enablement for B2B companies. Its client roster includes industrial machinery maker KenBay alongside technology and logistics firms, and manufacturing is one of its listed industry segments. Seven verified Clutch reviews average 4.8/5 and highlight project management and value.

Boundify is the smallest firm on this list and the most narrowly focused: HubSpot CRM implementation and the demand-generation reporting that goes with it. For an Upstate industrial company whose analytics gap is "we cannot see our sales pipeline," it is a fast, inexpensive fix; for anything involving the MES, the ERP or Power BI, it is not the right call.

Strengths
  • HubSpot Gold Partner with CRM implementation and sales enablement
  • Industrial machinery client KenBay; 4.8/5 across seven verified reviews
  • Small senior team with strong project-management and value marks
Worth knowing

A two-to-nine person demand-generation agency; no data-platform, ERP or Power BI capability, and manufacturing is one of several segments served.

10Trone

HQ: High Point, NCFounded: 1982Team: 10–49Web: trone.com
Brand strategy & researchDigital strategyMedia planning & buyingPackaging designManufacturing & medical brands

Best for: Mid-market Piedmont manufacturers that need brand research and market insight alongside digital and media  ·  Weighted score: 4.0/10

Trone is a privately held marketing agency in High Point, NC, founded in 1982 in the heart of the Piedmont Triad's furniture and manufacturing region. It shapes brand experiences across touchpoints with services in branding, digital strategy, media planning and buying, packaging and web, serving a client base that is 75% mid-market companies and includes manufacturing, medical, government and retail accounts.

Trone earns the last spot on this list for its brand research — the customer and market insight that a Triad or Hickory manufacturer needs before it decides which products, channels and markets deserve the investment that the analytics partners above will then measure. It is a marketing agency, not a data firm, and we include it as the research-and-insight complement to the technical partners rather than as an alternative to them.

Side-by-side comparison

The heat map below shows each firm's score on every criterion. Use it to re-weight the ranking for your own plant — an Upstate SAP shop may weigh Enstrapp's ERP and IoT depth more heavily than Power BI design, and a multi-site Dynamics 365 program may value Sunrise's bench over pricing transparency.

How to choose a manufacturing analytics partner in the Carolinas: a buyer's guide

Start with the meeting, not the data source

The single most reliable predictor of a successful manufacturing analytics project is whether the partner asks about your meetings before your systems. A firm that opens with "which databases do you want to connect?" is going to build a data platform. A firm that opens with "walk us through your 7 a.m. production huddle, your weekly quality review and your monthly close — what numbers are argued about?" is going to build a data platform that gets used. Ask every candidate to describe their discovery process and listen for the order.

This is also why Power BI and dashboard design are not optional in a manufacturing analytics partner. An OEE measure that handles changeovers correctly, a scrap rate that reconciles with the ERP's inventory adjustments, row-level security that shows a Greenville, SC supervisor only Greenville, SC — these are semantic-model and DAX skills, and they determine whether the plant trusts the number. A partner who can provision Fabric or configure Dynamics but cannot explain why the MES and ERP disagree will leave you with a fast platform and a slow argument.

Verify the partner can actually reach your plant data

Carolinas plants run an enormous variety of systems: PostgreSQL- or SQL Server-backed MES platforms, Dynamics 365, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite or a twenty-year-old custom ERP, quality systems ranging from spreadsheets to full QMS suites, and PLCs and historians that speak OPC UA. Ask each candidate which of these it has connected in production — not which it has heard of — and how. A mature manufacturing analytics consultant will talk about mirroring or change-data-capture from the MES database, ERP APIs versus direct SQL, conformed dimensions for part numbers and work centers, and what happens when a shift runs late and the nightly refresh fails.

Then ask how the partner reconciles. The most common failure in plant analytics is a dashboard whose production counts do not tie to the ERP's period close, which finance then refuses to use. The fix is modeling discipline — a single gold table of production transactions that both OEE and cost-per-unit read from — and it should be described in the statement of work.

  • Ask for two manufacturing references where the partner connected an MES or PLC source, and call them.
  • Ask to see a redacted architecture diagram from a delivered plant project — sources, lakehouse layers, semantic model, dashboards, apps.
  • Ask how the partner handles late-arriving data, downtime-code changes and part-number renames; if the answer is "we re-import," keep looking.

Understand the pricing model before the scope

Manufacturing analytics is sold three ways in the Carolinas: hourly time-and-materials, fixed-scope packages (Jump Starts, pilots, workshops) and managed services or ERP-program add-ons. For a first project, a fixed-scope pilot — one plant, one MES or ERP source, one production and one quality dashboard — is almost always the right choice. It caps your risk, forces the partner to be specific about deliverables, and produces something the plant can see in weeks. Firms that publish package pricing (BICS does) make this easy to compare; ERP partners that only quote inside a larger implementation should be asked directly for a standalone reporting pilot.

Do not forget the platform cost. Your partner should size the Fabric capacity — most single- and two-plant estates run comfortably on F16 to F64 — against your actual data volumes and refresh needs, and show you reservation versus pay-as-you-go math. Dynamics 365, Power Apps per-app or per-user licensing and any private AI hardware should be itemized separately so the operations VP and the CFO can each see their part of the bill.

Which type of partner fits your plant?

Most Carolinas manufacturers fall into one of four quadrants based on where the analytics need sits and how much data capability they already have in-house. Match the partner type to your quadrant before you compare individual firms.

Plan for the shop-floor app and the AI layer from day one

Dashboards are only as good as the data keyed into the MES, and in most Carolinas plants the weakest data is downtime reasons, scrap codes and inspection results captured on paper or in free-text fields. The most effective fix is to replace the paper with a Power App that writes clean codes straight into the model — a downtime logger on a tablet at the line, a first-article inspection form, a maintenance request with photos. A partner who builds the app and the dashboard on the same data model eliminates the second integration project that most plants discover six months later.

AI belongs in the same plan, with a confidentiality decision made early. Manufacturers with ITAR, customer drawings or proprietary process parameters often cannot use public cloud AI on plant data. A private, on-premises AI server or a Copilot Studio agent grounded only in the plant's own Fabric data lets supervisors ask "why was line 3 down Tuesday" or get a corrective-action draft from the quality record without that data leaving the building. Ask each candidate whether it has deployed either; most Dynamics resellers and software firms have not.

  • Ask which shop-floor workflows the partner has digitized with Power Apps, and whether the app and dashboard share one model.
  • Ask how the partner would handle a plant that cannot send data to a public cloud AI service.
  • Ask who owns the lakehouse, the semantic model and the app code if you part ways.

Questions to ask on the first call

  • Which MES, ERP and quality systems have you connected in production, and for which Carolinas manufacturers?
  • How do you calculate OEE, and how do you handle changeovers, planned downtime and rework in the measure?
  • How will production counts on the dashboard reconcile with the ERP's period close?
  • What Fabric capacity would you size for two plants and one MES, and what is the monthly cost?
  • Have you built a Power App that supervisors use on the floor? Show us one.
  • Can you deploy AI over our production history without the data leaving our network?
  • What will my analysts be able to maintain without you after handover?

Frequently asked questions

Who is the best manufacturing analytics partner in the Carolinas?

For small and mid-market manufacturers in North and South Carolina, Power BI Consulting Services (BICS) is our top-ranked manufacturing analytics partner for 2026. The Charlotte-area Microsoft Partner builds production, quality and OEE dashboards from MES and ERP data on Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, adds Power Apps for shop-floor workflows and private AI, and publishes its pricing. InterDyn Artis, Kopis and Sunrise Technologies are strong alternatives for Dynamics 365-led programs and custom Azure software.

How much does manufacturing analytics consulting cost in North Carolina or South Carolina?

Boutique manufacturing analytics consulting in the Carolinas typically runs from a fixed-scope pilot in the low five figures — one plant, one MES or ERP source, production and quality dashboards — to six-figure multi-plant Fabric and Dynamics 365 programs. Senior Microsoft data consultants generally bill in the $150–$250 per hour range. Platform cost is separate: most single- and two-plant Fabric estates run on F16–F64 capacities. BICS publishes its costs and offers a two-week Power BI Jump Start plus a 10% discount for nonprofits, government and minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses.

Can Power BI report OEE directly from our MES?

Yes. A PostgreSQL- or SQL Server-backed MES can be mirrored into a Microsoft Fabric lakehouse and read by Power BI through Direct Lake, so availability, performance, quality and OEE by line and shift are on a dashboard the same morning without an overnight import refresh. The important work is modeling — conformed dimensions for plant, line, shift, part and reason code, and DAX measures that handle changeovers and rework — which is exactly what BICS specializes in.

How long does a manufacturing analytics pilot take?

A well-scoped pilot — one plant, one MES or ERP source, a production and a quality dashboard, and a Power App to clean up downtime or inspection data at the source — takes roughly 4–8 weeks with an experienced partner such as BICS. Multi-plant Fabric estates with Dynamics 365, SAP and IoT sources typically run three to nine months depending on the number of systems and the state of master data.

Do we need Microsoft Fabric, or is Power BI alone enough?

For a single plant with one clean ERP source, Power BI with scheduled import can be enough. Once you have an MES plus an ERP plus a quality system, multiple plants, shift-level refresh needs or plans for AI over production history, Fabric’s lakehouse, Direct Lake and Real-Time Intelligence pay for themselves quickly. BICS sizes the smallest capacity that fits and will tell you honestly if Power BI alone is sufficient.

What should a manufacturing dashboard include?

At minimum: OEE by line and shift with availability, performance and quality components; downtime Pareto by reason code; scrap and yield by part; first-pass quality and hold status; schedule attainment; and cost-per-unit or margin by part reconciled to the ERP. Each audience — production huddle, quality manager, controller — should have its own page, with row-level security by plant and line so supervisors in Hickory, Spartanburg or Greenville, NC see their own operation.

Can we use AI on plant data without sending it to the cloud?

Yes. Private, on-premises AI servers run open-weight language models inside your network, and Copilot Studio agents can be grounded only in your own Fabric data with Microsoft’s enterprise data protections. Both let supervisors and engineers ask natural-language questions over maintenance logs, quality records and production history. BICS builds both and is one of the few manufacturing analytics partners in the Carolinas that does.

Which regions of the Carolinas do these firms cover?

All ten are headquartered in the Carolinas: BICS in Mooresville and Revology Analytics in Davidson (Charlotte metro); InterDyn Artis in Charlotte; Kopis, Waypost and Boundify in Greenville, SC and Enstrapp in Greer (the Upstate automotive corridor); Sunrise Technologies in Winston-Salem and Trone in High Point (the Triad); and Tayloe/Gray in Wilmington. Most serve plants across both states, including Hickory, the Catawba Valley and Eastern NC.
